His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatse III CFR graced the Coronation of His Majesty Ọba Abímbọ́lá Akeem Ọ̀wọ̀adé I, the 46th Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́, in honour of a revered age-long throne and a significant chapter in Yoruba history, which the Itsekiris are proud to be associated with.

This past Saturday, in the opening installment of the Ghigho Aghofen “Palace Watch” ceremonies for the year 2025, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III hosted all and sundry to a rich display of tradition at Aghofen (royal palace) in Warri.

His Majesty’s visit marked the quarterly Ugwa Olu, signifying the community’s successful completion of their dedicated watch over the Palace of the Olu of Warri (Ghigho Aghofen). Customarily, in conclusion of the ceremony, His Majesty took a walk around the community blessing her people, land and waters.

Today His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatse III CFR inaugurated ‘The Intersecting Worlds of Climate Change, The Mangrove & Art’, an art exhibition curated by Mr. Oriiz Onuwaje of Crimson Fusion Creators and featuring the artistry of Mr. John Ed DeBebs. This exhibition is aimed at raising awareness on the state of the third largest mangrove forest in the world - the mangroves of the Niger Delta.
