It is with great pleasure that the Palace announces the forthcoming 4th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri Kingdom.
As the sun burst over Aghofen, the air reverberated with the beats of the Iye Ogume, Oton Ogun, Okiri, Pokiri, Agba, and Oma drums, heralding the arrival of the Ekurede Community. The Ghigho Aghofen ‘Palace Watch’ ceremonies had begun, and the palace grounds transformed into a kaleidoscope of color and sound.
On this Africa Day, our message is clear: Africa is not a problem to fix but rather a force returning to its full power. And it continues to be apparent by the day that Africa is a return, not a risk.
In a proud moment for all of Africa, the waters ebbed out of Warri Kingdom in the heart of Nigeria’s Delta, and flowed in torrents to the ancient Zulu Kingdom in South Africa. The occasion being the arrival of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, on a fraternal visit to His Majesty Misuzulu KaZwelithini of Zulu Kingdom in Nongoma, South Africa, with both monarchs testifying to shared values and rich cultural heritage that exist across the continent.
It pleased His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III to receive the honour of being awarded by the Reputation Poll International @reputation_poll as one of 100 Most Reputable Africans. The Award was presented to His Majesty by Her Excellency Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Chancellor of the University of Johannesburg and former Deputy President of South Africa.
The task of crafting a future we desire involves collaborative efforts, innovative thinking, and a shared vision for a better tomorrow where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the greater good. It will require raising a generation of leaders who embody empathy, integrity, and a deep understanding of the complex challenges we face, and who are equipped to drive positive change and shape a brighter future for us all.
His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatse III CFR graced the Coronation of His Majesty Ọba Abímbọ́lá Akeem Ọ̀wọ̀adé I, the 46th Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́, in honour of a revered age-long throne and a significant chapter in Yoruba history, which the Itsekiris are proud to be associated with.
This past Saturday, in the opening installment of the Ghigho Aghofen “Palace Watch” ceremonies for the year 2025, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III hosted all and sundry to a rich display of tradition at Aghofen (royal palace) in Warri.
His Majesty’s visit marked the quarterly Ugwa Olu, signifying the community’s successful completion of their dedicated watch over the Palace of the Olu of Warri (Ghigho Aghofen). Customarily, in conclusion of the ceremony, His Majesty took a walk around the community blessing her people, land and waters.
Today, His Majesty, Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatse III was in Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral capital of the Itsekiri, as well as Okotomu where His Majesty carried out customary blessings upon the land.

This exhibition is aimed at raising awareness on the state of the third largest mangrove forest in the world - the mangroves of the Niger Delta.
Yesterday His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR enjoyed a splendid afternoon spectating the 2025 NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament at the Lagos Polo Club.
Warri Kingdom has had the honor of hosting Her Excellency, Senator Fanny Moussokoura Chantal, Vice President of the Senate of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, a proud daughter of the Kingdom, hailing from the Ogheye-Eghoroke community.
