Today, the fifth day of His Majesty Ògíamè Atuwatse III’s 4th Coronation Anniversary celebrations was a grand spectacle, as a multitude of groups, communities, towns, and local governments converged on the Aghofen Palace grounds to pay homage to the revered monarch. The people of Iwere Kingdom and beyond came together yet again in a kaleidoscope of colors, reaffirming their loyalty, honor, and devotion to the throne.

The day’s festivities were further enriched by the launch of two seminal books: “The Ascension of the 21st Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR: The Inside Story” by Barr. Toritseju E. Emiko, and “Arabic Figures and Itsekiri” by Lucky Ebaje. These works preserve the intellectual and cultural wealth of the Itsekiri people for generations to come, blending tradition with scholarship and underscoring the deep bond between the Olu and his people.

As dusk drew near, the celebrations took a new turn with a theatre presentation that brought to life one of the beautiful stories of Itsekiri history. Through powerful storytelling, music, and movement, the Royal Iwere Theatre Troupe illuminated history and culture, captivating the audience on a journey of shared identity.

Every scene paid homage to the resilience and brilliance of the Iwere people, leaving all who were present inspired and deeply connected to the legacy of our beloved kingdom.
