His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, and Her Majesty Olori Atuwatse III today paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency President Duma Gideon Boko, the President of the Republic of Botswana, at the Presidential Office in Gaborone. They were accompanied by Her Excellency Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, the former President of Mauritius and the first woman to hold that office, who joined Their Majesties as part of their delegation. The visit was one of the key engagements of the Elevate Africa Convening currently hosted in Botswana under the theme “Africa, The Next Chapter.”
During the meeting, President Boko welcomed Their Majesties and the former President of Mauritius, commending the Elevate Africa Campaign for promoting unity, innovation, and inclusive leadership across the continent. Discussions centered on strengthening collaboration among African nations, empowering youth and women, and building bridges between traditional and political leadership for sustainable development. Their Majesties expressed deep appreciation to the President and the people of Botswana for their warm hospitality and partnership in advancing Africa’s collective vision for growth and transformation.
Following the courtesy visit, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III held a private meeting with Botswana’s former President, His Excellency Seretse Khama Ian Khama. Their conversation focused on continuity of leadership, intergenerational dialogue, and the shared responsibility of African leaders — past and present, traditional and governmental — to foster peace, prosperity, and collaboration across the continent.
Together, these engagements underscore the spirit of Pan-African unity and reaffirm the purpose of Elevate Africa as a platform for writing Africa’s next great chapter — a chapter defined by partnership, progress, and shared destiny.
